Detail Shots

I love, love, love wedding detail shots!

There are so many pieces to the wedding day puzzle and I love seeing those captured along with the emotions and people who are there to celebrate with the bride and groom.

We won't have a full picture wish list to give, because I have complete trust in our amazing photographer, but there are a couple of shots that we have mentioned that we would love to get.  Most of those shots are of the DIY projects we have been working on (like our passport programs, postcard guestbook, and boarding pass escort cards).  A handful of particular shots with our friends and family (I can't wait to have a picture of Mama E putting on my veil just like her mom did on my parents' wedding day 33 years ago), and a couple of popular shots seen on wedding blogs.

I'm a sucker for one detail shot in particular: the shoe shot!

Love it!!! Mr. E was all on board with wearing a pair of blue and green socks (love him!) and even helped me  find the perfect pair online.

They came in the mail the same day as our RSVP from Disneyland. (Thanks Miss Lioness for the VIP addresses!)  Can't wait to see these socks next to my blue shoes!

Canvas Wrap

Part of our photography package with Lynn Michelle included a 16 x 24 canvas wrap of one of our favorite engagement pictures.  We had a hard time selecting one (because we loved so many of our photos!!) but we finally decided on one that shows both us and our travel theme in bright vivid color. 

We're quickly running out of wall space in our 2 bedroom apartment, but I found a little nook that seemed the perfect size.  Mr. E was awesome to hang it, and then rehang it after I noticed the fact that it wasn't centered.

It happens to be above our TV, so for now we get to enjoy this canvas whenever we watch TV.

That is Man v Food on the Travel Channel (we love that show)

When we move into a house after the wedding (can. not. wait!) I'll be sure to find a wonderful spot for this!  We loved the wrap so much that we decided to order a big (and I do mean big!) 30 x 40 wrap of our absolute favorite engagement picture. We feel like this photo is more of an art piece and looks amazing in the larger size!

Sunset Engagement Pics

Just one more post of engagement pictures, I promise!

I don't think I can rave enough about our photographer Lynn Michelle!! After our engagement session at the railway museum, Lynn asked if we would like to meet up again with her to take some sunset pictures. She loves a good sunset shot and due to the closing time of the museum, we knew we wouldn't be there late enough for sunset pictures.

Of course we jumped at the chance to hang out with Lynn again and take more pictures! She even asked if we wanted to bring along my dog Gypsy to get in on the action. Its hard to narrow it down, but here are my favorites for your viewing pleasure :)

Engagement Pics - My Favorites

After sitting through 2 posts of pics, are you ready for my favorites? It was so hard to narrow it down, but here are my top 10 (not in any particular order) from our engagement shoot.

The first two were the teasers that Lynn sent, love the lighting in the first one and the intimacy in the second.

The next one just looks so cool. I'm 99% sure that this is the one that we will make into a canvas print to display at the reception (part of our photography package)

A little wind adds to the romance of this one.

With the old school train, truck and placement of the suitcases and globe, this next one is perfect for our save the date magnet.

The chucks were a want, not a need and we love them!

The last set were taken outside of the train museum. Lynn has an eye that turns random flowers (or weeds) and an old rusty truck into great backdrops.

And last but not least, the photo for our pre-wedding thank you cards.

Sigh, I could look at these pictures all day.

Engagement Pics - The Funny Ones

Here we are playing with some props from Lynn. The gnome is sort of a mini mascot for Lynn, he makes the rounds to all of her weddings and sneaks into a detail shot or two.

We got a kick out of the photo booth props.

The lead up to this picture is what made it funny. Let's just say I really needed an extra boost from Mr. E.

For the life of us we could not keep our left pant legs up!

You can call me air Jordan. I got ups!

Although this can easily be edited out, we thought the skull face under "embrace" was too funny.

Engagement Pictures!!

I am so excited about these!!! Lynn Michelle did such a wonderful job, and we had a blast shooting them. I won't talk too much, and let the pictures speak for themselves.

The pictures were taken at the railway museum near Fair Park in Dallas. We started out in our "dressy" clothes, but that didn't last too long. Mr. E and I are both more jeans and t-shirt type of people, and felt more ourselves once we changed.

Here is one picture to prove that we did dress up in the beginning.




The series are in our casual clothes in, on and around the trains. Notice the shirt colors? Yep they're our wedding colors!

Another shout out to my mom for getting the hook up with the old school suitcases!

Did you incorporate your wedding theme into your engagement pictures?

Engagement Props

To go along with our travel theme for the wedding, we'll be shooting our engagement pictures (in 3 days, EEEEEEEEE!) with a travel theme. I don't want to give away too much until I can share the sure to be amazing pictures with you, but I think a little sneak peak is in order.

When emailing back and forth with our photographer, Lynn, about our photo shoot she said "Tell me you are bringing old suitcases, because that would cause me to happy dance!" (Love her, she's so enthusiastic!) To which I responded of course!

The first thought was to check Etsy, but the cost was a little much for something we would only use once, maybe twice. Next thought was to rent them from a local antique shop, but my awesome mom used some connections and got some for us, for FREE (that word is music to my ears when it comes to anything associated with our wedding)!!

These beauties will be making an appearance in our engagement pictures.

Did you use any props in your engagement shoot?

2 Engagement Session Idea...

...has fallen by the budget wayside. As awesome as it would be to have engagement pictures in Vegas, we knew that it wasn't needed. We will still have an amazing time in Vegas, and there will still be some awesome point and shoot pictures courtesy of me.

Maybe on a future trip, if we still feel the urge, we'll book a Vegas photographer to capture photos like these…

Those beautiful pictures are from Bentley and Wilson, and their prices are pretty awesome as well, only $298 for a 2 hour photo tour up and down the strip. It’s an additional $150 for the neon graveyard, but that is the fee assessed by the Neon Museum.

Was your engagement session outside of your hometown?

Engagement Pictures – Here or there?

As you might remember we booked our photographer Lynn Michelle way back in August and as part of our package we get an Engagement session. These pictures have been a motivating factor in our gym visits because we want to look good!

We plan on using an engagement picture on the save the date magnet, a canvas wrap to display at the reception (another perk in the package we purchased), the cards to let guests know where they can look up the professional pictures online after the wedding as well as a coffee table book that I will probably make through Blurb later.

Other then the all important question of what to wear for this session (I’m still not sure but plan on making at least one outfit change during the session), we need to decide where we want to have the pictures taken. Looking through Lynn’s portfolio we found an old train track area that she has shot at that looks like a great backdrop. Mom and I also thought of a small airport type area that might be great to incorporate the travel theme.

I figured anything in the DFW area would work since there wouldn’t be any travel costs included in the session. Then came talk of our family reunion for this summer and the location picked was…. drum roll please…

Las Vegas Strip (link)

…VEGAS! Now my family is no stranger to Vegas… friends and co-workers have nicknamed it our second home because we go so often. Since my first trip in 1993, I believe that I have been to Vegas nearly 45 or 50 times. And you want to know what the funny thing about that is? The majority of those times were before I was even legal to gamble! Back in the day there were tons of things for kids to do.

Now you may be asking yourself, what my family vacation in Vegas has to do with our engagement pictures. Well, I’ve been weighing the options of pushing back our session this spring in Dallas and paying to fly Lynn out to Vegas to do our engagement pictures there. I’ve heard that Vegas is a photographer’s playground with all of the locations on and off the strip to shot at. Just think of some gorgeous shots in front of the Belliago water show…
